It's quite normal. A person may seem idle on a regular basis, hiding in their room day after day, only occasionally emerging to wander around and speak in a language you can't comprehend. Most people would keep their distance, thinking you're either mad or involved in illegal activities, not to mention any social status, which is entirely non-existent.
But this is the life of a full-time trader, destined to be misunderstood, with only oneself knowing what they're really doing.
I've been a full-time trader for over a decade, and while I've met many like-minded individuals online, I've hardly met any in real life. This group is not numerous to begin with, and they have a very low profile.
In fact, being a full-time trader is a difficult endeavor, one that requires immense courage, because profits are often unstable. If you're consistently losing, your mindset is bound to collapse, and in more severe cases, it could lead to the breakdown of family relationships.
When I first started trading and entered a phase of losses, my girlfriend didn't understand and broke up with me. Friends and family didn't understand either, even giving me many cold shoulders and ridicule. Some relatives and friends genuinely tried to persuade me, saying, "You should be down-to-earth; even a steady job paying 5,000 a month is reliable. This trading feels dubious."
Others would mock and sneer, knowing I was losing money, yet teasing, "Don't forget us when you make it big in the future," "You're playing at a high level; we can only work hard for a meager income." In their eyes, I was a fool with unrealistic dreams. Every time I heard such remarks, I felt uncomfortable but could only smile and brush it off.
What happened later?
After I started making profits and my financial situation improved, the attitudes of friends and family around me changed dramatically. Those who had kept their distance began to invite me to meals, and the cold remarks disappeared. They started to show genuine concern, began to appreciate my "hardship," and thought that I deserved respect for earning money through my own efforts.
Thus, I discovered a truth: the so-called social status is bestowed upon you by money and power, it's given by the eyes of others, and it has nothing to do with your own self but is related to human nature.
Having experienced all this, I find the concept of social status quite meaningless, because a person's external material conditions determine whether others will respect them. It's really not interesting to tie one's emotions to the judgment of others. So, I later streamlined my social relationships, not interacting with too many people in reality, and refraining from any flattering words. If we share common interests, we spend more time together; if not, we go our separate ways. I believe this is the greatest benefit that full-time trading has brought me: freedom. I can choose whom I want to deal with and whom I choose not to.

Additionally, my experiences in full-time trading have taught me how to respect everyone more equally, such as saying thank you to a waiter who serves the dishes, showing sufficient understanding to a delivery person, and offering sincere encouragement and help to friends and family in adversity. These actions are more meaningful than gaining some so-called social status.
Therefore, I no longer care about social status. I appreciate respect from others and understand disrespect. I focus more energy on researching trading techniques, executing my trading strategies well, and investing my energy in friends and family who are worth it. Their feedback is what truly makes me happy.
However, if you wish to become a full-time trader, please read the following:
Becoming a full-time trader is not an easy task; it's not a decision to be made on a whim, as it indeed involves bearing pressure from society and friends, requiring strong psychological quality. Moreover, you must have your own financial savings. Trading is not a lifeline to escape real life; it can only be the icing on the cake.
Furthermore, if you have experienced the low points in life and witnessed the unbearable and hypocritical aspects of human nature, you will thoroughly understand that so-called social status is truly unimportant. Reconciliation and consistency with oneself in trading and life are what truly lead to spiritual satisfaction and happiness.
